Where do I start?
It is no secret that many of us ladies involved in competition or the fitness industry in general, tend to not only loose the body fat in all our trouble areas as we train and eat well, but we also loose inches in the one area that is not desirable: the chest!
Want a bigger booty? Great, you can do all sort of exercises to build the bum of your dreams. The same goes for a great set of abs or shoulder caps. With a bit of time and hard work, you can mold and shape them the way you want. Not so for the girls on the chest. This is the one thing that we cannot control in the gym. Does this make us any less of a woman, make us manly, or does it lower our self worth? NO!
However, is it bad to want something as simple as breasts? This answer is also NO and no one should ever tell you differently.
So, here is where the story begins.
I began doing research on breast augmentations here in Hawaii just a few months ago. It has been something I have thought about for a while and felt that it was the right time to start really looking into what was involved. (cost, recovery, risks etc) While doing research I kept running across a surgeon named Doctor S. Larry Schlesinger. Dr. Schlesinger had people just raving about his work. There were pages upon pages of 5 star reviews. I was excited to talk with my husband about what I had learned and see what he thought of the idea. Of course, he told me he just wants me to be happy and will always be there to support me. Then, life did what is tends to do, and got busy. We put the idea to the side for a few weeks. One night, we started to talk about it again. It was important to me that my husband understood that I am so happy with where my body is at and I am proud of the changes I have made, but that this was something I couldn’t control. **Although I feel strongly that I do not owe anyone one an explanation or feel that I need to give my reasons for what I do, that is not what this post is about. I want to open up and share my experiences and be vulnerable so that maybe I can help someone who feels the same way.** J I told my husband that it was something that I wanted to do for ME. As he normally does, he jumped online and started doing research himself. An hour later he said, “Jess, I found this doctor who is Hawaii’s number 1 plastic surgeon and everyone just loves his work. I called and set up a consultation! His name is Dr. Schlesinger.”
We both did separate research and both came to the conclusion that he was the guy!
Consultation Day:
We walked into the office and it was modern, clean and there was a great atmosphere. What appeared to be returning clients there for post- op check ups, were happy and super polite as was the receptionist. Great office, nice employees, and happy customers: so far so good! When we went into the office I kind of expected someone who would be strictly business and maybe a bit intimidating. What we got was Dr. Schlesinger. He was so kind and made me feel very comfortable. He was knowledgeable and professional, but what stood out the most was how passionate he was about doing the best for his clients. He had a huge heart, which goes a long way with me. We went through the whole process and he explained how it all worked. During the consultation there was a part where I had to fill out some papers but could not see the print well enough to know what it was asking me to do. This brought us on to the subject of my eye disease and we began talking. I told him my story and found out that his wife has an eye disability as well! By the end of the consultation we had explained to the doctor our hopes for the surgery and were excited to get the ball rolling. When we were about to leave, he told us that he had an idea and he would be in contact with us at the beginning of the next week.
Dr. Schlesinger called me back, as he said he would, at the beginning of the week and asked if Steven and I could come back in the following day to talk some more.
Excited and nervous we sat down in his office the next day and learned that he wanted to propose and idea. He explained that he fell in love with our story and wanted to share my experience with others. He told us about an amazing videographer he knew in Seattle and asked if I would be interested in being in a documentary! I was stunned and left without words. I am not even sure how I responded, but I sincerely thanked him and accepted his offer.
There will be a 5 video series for their YouTube Channel following my journey through the procedure. Surgery will be set for the beginning of January 2015 so there will be plenty of time for recovery before my next stage appearance!
I am just always so amazed at the many blessings God gives me and words cannot begin to express my gratitude towards the amazing people placed in my life. I am excited for this process and hope that this can help someone else who may be feeling the same way. If you follow me on my social media pages, someone told you about this site or maybe you just stumbled on it, whatever brought you here, know that I am here to help! Connect with me and get inspired!
<3 Jess
