Welcome to the Desire2Inspire Blog!
One of my favorite things to tell ladies who take my classes is to, "clear your mind of can't." Our minds will give out on us much sooner than our bodies will. We always need to make sure that we have our minds right before we do anything. If you go into a workout with the expectation that it is going to be horrible, then I bet you it will be. On the other hand, if you start your workout thinking that this is getting you healthier, stronger and one step closer to your goal, then your workout will fly by and leave you with a sense of accomplishment.
Understanding the power that you have and the strength that lies within you will be the difference in achieving your goals and them remaining a dream. You need to believe in yourself and figure out why you want what it is you want. Once you understand and fully accept why you are doing it, write it down! There will be many times along your journey that it will be important for you to refer back to your, "why."
* Now that I am at the end of the 2013 competition season, it is time to focus my mind on 2014. To me there is really no such thing as an off-season. Many people think that in the off-season an athlete can eat whatever they want and slack on their workouts. The reality is that off-season is really just the early stages of the competition prep. This is a time where I will start trying to build muscle and put on size, especially in my upper body. I am finding out, even in the early parts of the off-season, that it takes more discipline and focus now then it ever did during the season. When you are 12 weeks out from a show there is the thought of yourself in the near future stepping on the stage, which helps to drive your motivation and focus. Where I am at now, in the time just after my first season, I feel like staying motivated and focused is more important than ever. I do not have a show in a month, two months or even three months. This could allow many people to easily slide into the holiday season feeling safe with the fact that they are so far from a show. I want to rid my mind of thoughts like these. Competing is a lifestyle for me. I love the way it makes me feel and I love having the competitions to help me push myself to improve. During this past season, I was 5 to 6 weeks out from a show and I knew that I needed to have bigger shoulders and arms. I was in a place in my training that growing much more from where I already was while leaning out was not an option. I have made it my goal in this off-season to put on muscle and make sure that I am not in that same situation next season! With each show you do there is always something that you learn. I competed in 6 shows in my first year of competing and have learned so much.

I am so very thankful for all of the help and guidance I was given along the way this year. I made so many new wonderful friends who share my love for fitness and competing and grew closer to two of may favorite ladies in the world. I have big plans for this next season and can't wait to start competing in some pro shows and some new federations!
