Hello, My name is Jessica Parsell and I am so excited about having the chance to share my story with you!
I am a Professional Bikini Athlete, a proud Air Force wife and a fitness instructor with a love for people and a Desire2Inspire people to chase down their dreams and make them a reality.
When I was 14 years old I was starting to have trouble seeing the white board during class and told my parents that I thought I needed a different pair of glasses. Our journey from optometrists to eye specialists had begun. After a long road of poking and prodding it was determined and I was diagnosed with a rare form of Juvenile Macular Degeneration: Stargardt Disease. This particular disease affects the macula and causes a loss in central vision. This is a degenerative disease that progressively causes a loss in vision. I count my blessings for everyday that I wake up and see the beautiful world around me. God has given me the ability to have vision and I do not intend to take it for granted. There are many people in the world who face terminal illnesses and things that are much worse. I consider myself lucky and thankful to have my health and each day ahead of me to go after my dreams and enjoy my family and friends!
My Love: I met my husband when I was only in 5th grade. I can still remember walking into the classroom on the first day of school and thinking he was the cutest boy in the world. Needless to say it was love at first sight. Being young kids we took part in the whole,"being mean to the person you had a crush on thing." When we got a little bit older and I was now in 8th grade Steven got the courage to ask me to be his girlfriend. (Over the phone!) We would talk on the phone and go over to each others homes for supervised dates and have been together ever since. When Steven told me he was going to join the Air Force, it was a very scary but exciting thing. I was so proud of his decision to do something bigger with his life and protect this country and our freedom. On a beautiful July evening out on the beach at Lake Michigan as the sun was setting Steven asked me to marry him! Our lives have been filled with love and adventure as we have travel the United States from Base to Base. Our travels will soon be taking us to live on the beautiful Island of Oahu: part of the Hawaiian Islands!
My hope is to bring motivation and inspiration to all the people I meet. I want people to know that they can do anything that they set their minds to. If you have a dream, then go out there and get it. Put in hard work and be dedicated. Sometimes things may seem tough, but there is always a rainbow after the storm. Stay Strong. Keep Going. You CAN Do It!!!
